Agency as creation of law

The Ondo State Agency Against Gender-Based Violence (OSAA-GBV) is a creation of Law {Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law 2021} enacted by the Ondo State House of Assembly, assented to, and signed into law by the Governor of Ondo State (Arakunrin Odunayo Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN) on 14th of July 2021.
OSAA-GBV was established in January 2022 pursuant to Section 45 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Ondo State 2021. The Agency is a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal and has the power to sue and be sued in its corporate name. The Agency has power to acquire, hold or dispose of movable and immovable property for the purpose of its functions under the Law.
The Agency is fully on ground to tackle headlong violence against persons living within the State, whether at home, in the office or in the public in whatever shape amongst others like domestic violence, economic, emotional, Sexual, verbal, and psychological abuses, Abandonment of women, children and other persons, harmful traditional practices (Female Genital Mutilation/circumcision of a girl or woman, widowhood practices) etc.
